POLICIES

 CLASSROOM ATTENDANCE –

·        Registered students must attend each of the 30 hours of classroom time.

·        ABSENSES: If any hours are missed, those hours must be made up in a subsequent classroom session.

·        You have a maximum of 2 years from the start date to complete the program.

PARENT CLASS-

·        The parent class is required by the State. Students are not permitted to begin behind-the-wheel driving lessons until the parent class has been attended and verified.

·        A parent/guardian or any adult over 21 may represent the student at the parent class.

·        Persons who attend the parent class will be issued a certificate of parental completion, which is valid for 5 years.

·        Persons who have attended a parent class within 5 years of the current student’s driver’s education program start date are exempt from repeating the parent class. If you attended a parent class at a school other than Ringer’s or Exlent, you must deliver a copy of the certificate of parental completion to Ringer’s Auto School.

SCHEDULING DRIVING LESSONS –

·        PREREQUISITES: (1) Program fee has been paid in full. (2) JOL classroom and Parent class have been attended and verified. (3) Student has obtained a Massachusetts learner’s permit from the RMV.

·        PROCEDURE: Text the scheduling line (781) 231-0337.

·        RINGER’S AVAILABILITY: At the time of this printing, we are scheduling Monday through Saturday 9am-7pm each day and some 7am mornings and some late days until 9pm. The TEXT ONLY scheduling number (781) 231-0337 is monitored 40 hours per week (times of day varies, but mostly 11am-4pm weekdays). Your message will be responded to in the order in which it is received. We usually respond within 24 hours not including Weekends or Holidays. Group text preferred with ALL correspondents involved, i.e., mom/student, dad/student, mom/dad/student.

COVID PROCEDURES DURING DRIVING LESSONS –

·        Students will be given a disinfectant wipe to sanitize touchable surfaces at the beginning of each lesson.

·        Windows will be partially open (weather permitting)

·        No one may enter the car if they have symptoms or have been in contact with someone symptomatic.

·        No cancellation fee will be charged if you cancel when sick or if you’ve been in contact with someone sick. You will be able to reschedule after the 7-day incubation period has lapsed.

CANCELLING DRIVING LESSONS

·        You may cancel a driving lesson for any reason. Please give as much notice as possible, A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS NOTICE IS REQUIRED (including, but not limited to cancelling 1 hour of a 2 hour lesson.)

CHANGING PICK-UP OR DROP-OFF LOCATION

·        The pick-up/drop-off address is required at the time of booking, so we can keep our instructors’ shifts in as small a geographical area as possible. While we always have management on duty during road lesson hours, we cannot ensure office staff will be manning the scheduling line, so changes to pick-up and drop-off locations must be requested a FULL 24 HOURS in advance. 

FEES

·        A $20 fee will be assessed for EACH HOUR cancelled w/less than 24hrs. notice. This means if you cancel a two-hour lesson, the fee will be $40.

·        If the driver shows up at the pick up location and the student is not able to take the scheduled lesson (reasons may include but are not limited to (1) student cannot show the instructor the learner’s permit (2) have eyeglass restriction on permit, but are not wearing eyeglasses or contacts, a $50 fee will be charged. A $50 fee will be charged for EACH HOUR cancelled by phone or text or in person with less than one hour notice. This means if you cancel a two-hour lesson with less than one hour notice, the fee will be $50 for the first hour and $20 for the second hour, for a total of $70.  Fees may be waived in case of emergency upon parent phone call.

·        There will be a $50 cleaning fee assessed for any spill (except water) in the car or classroom carpet (when we return to in-person classroom).

BEHAVIOR

STUDENT:

·        Students are required by the State to get 40 hours of driving practice time, in addition to and separate from the 12 hours of driving school instruction.

·        If a student signs the attendance sheet at the beginning of a class, then disappears/leaves/ditches class, the student will be required to make up the entire period in question during a subsequent classroom session. You have 2 years from your program start date to complete. A certificate of completion will not be issued until all hours in question have been made up.

·        No violence, defiance or disruptive behavior (including but not limited to threats, cursing/yelling, inflammatory statements directed toward any Ringer’s employee) will be tolerated. After one warning a parent will be contacted. If the behavior persists, the student will be expelled. No refunds.

PARENTS/GUARDIAN/PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT (must be 21 years of age or older):

·        The parent/guardian/representative is required by the State to provide 40 hours of driving practice time (plus 6 hours to make up for the observation hours that have been eliminated due to COVID) in addition to and separate from the 12 hours of driving school instruction.

·        No violence, threats, cursing/yelling inflammatory statements directed toward any Ringer’s employee will be tolerated. After one warning, if the behavior persists, Ringer’s Auto School will no longer provide any services to the minor student. No refunds.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

·        Students will NOT be issued a Driver’s Education Certificate of Completion until all program requirements have been met and costs/fees have been paid in full.

·        It takes 7 to 10 business days after the final driving lesson/program requirement/payment for the certificate of completion to appear on the registry’s database. It is digital. There is no paper copy.

·        Students under the age of 18 are NOT eligible to obtain a road test appointment until their certificate of completion is on file in the RMV database.

ROAD TEST SPONSORSHIP

Your test will likely be 3 or more weeks after you sign up, likely on a weekday morning or possibly on a weekend.

Ringer’s electronically submits a road test request to the registry every Monday at 8am. The target date of set by the registry is 14 – 23 days after the MONDAY SUBMISSION based on RMV road test examiner availability.

The fee to sign up is $20 non-refundable. The balance of $120 is due IN CASH the day before the test.
